Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on 2011

A Nantwich retail group is planning to erect 40 large hoardings across the region to promote Christmas shopping in the town.

The scheme has been put together by the Nantwich Town Council Retail and Town Centre Group.

Members hope the idea, coupled with another Nantwich Christmas lights switch on event, will pull thousands of visitors into the town and provide a boost for local traders.

Now they are looking for local businesses to come forward and help fund the scheme by sponsoring one or more of the large hoardings for just £50.

Shaun Cafferty, of Martin&Co and of the town centre group, said: “Not only will your support be helping promote local Christmas shopping, it’s also an opportunity to highlight yourselves to your customers at this important time of year.

“The boards will go up early in November, so we hope to have a whole seven weeks worth of publicity.

“There is no profit element in this, the sponsorship scheme is simply designed to cover costs.

“Christmas is a vital time in our local economy, and by working together in this way we hope that it will be a successful one for everyone.”

Anyone interested can contact the retail group on 07711 402386 for more details.

Nantwich Lights switch-on is scheduled to take place on Saturday November 30.

TV vet Steve Leonard has been lined up as special guest to perform the switch-on, and there will be entertainment throughout the afternoon.
