Pharmacies across Nantwich and Crewe have teamed up with Age UK Cheshire in its local campaign “Let’s Talk Money”.

The project aims to reduce pensioner poverty in Cheshire by joining forces with pharmacies across the county to spread the word.

The main objective is to increase the number of older people aged over 65 claiming their entitlements, especially the benefit Attendance Allowance.

This is a non means tested benefit to help people with a long term illness or disability.

Over the next few weeks, 38 pharmacies in Cheshire, including The Co-operative in Nantwich and Shavington, will be inserting over 60,000 Age UK Cheshire leaflets into pharmacy bags of customers over 65.

It aims to encourage older people to chat with information and advice advisors at Age UK Cheshire.

Lucy Welsh, Age UK Cheshire’s information and advice manager, said: “We know people listen to health professionals, and for vulnerable older people, practical support to claim their entitlements is essential.

“Working alongside pharmacies to promote the campaign will no doubt put more money into the pockets of older people in Cheshire.”
