Manchester United and former Crewe Alexandra star Nick Powell was back in South Cheshire to present awards at a Shavington school.

Powell was invited to Shavington High School to reward pupils at their fourth annual “Shavington’s Got Talent” event.

Winner of the awards was Chloe Thorpe, who sang Adele’s version of “I Can’t Make You Love Me”.

In second place were dancers Charlotte Oakley, Hannah Dale and Sophie Thorpe, and third place went to Matthew Smith, a budding ventriloquist.

To end the evening, teachers Mr Richardson and Mr Aspinall took part in “Wax the Teacher” for charity.

Pupils raised £200 to see their “favourite” teacher endure a leg wax, with proceeds going to Christie’s in Manchester, to support people battling cancer.
