Nantwich Town fans will be struggling to keep up with the Joneses next season!

Dabbers boss Danny Johnson has just landed his second and third signing of the week – and all three have the surname Jones.

Johnson’s latest two captures were confirmed last night (May 21) when he signed central defender Adam Jones, and midfielder Mark Jones, who will captain the side next season.

Their signatures come just a week after ex Crewe Alexandra and Northern Ireland winger Steve Jones agreed to move to the Weaver Stadium.

Adam Jones played for Nantwich on loan last season and agreed a deal despite having better offers on the table elsewhere, according to Johnson.

And he described Mark Jones’ attitude as “exceptional” and “exemplary” last season.

“Mark had no hesitation in committing to the club for the next 12 months at least,” said Johnson.

“This year I wanted to ensure we had a really solid base to build from and I am excited at the prospect of having Sam Wilson, Mat Bailey and now Adam Jones competing for the central defensive births.

“Wilson impressed me with his attitude last season, especially towards the end of the campaign when we were struggling to pick up victories.

“Sam will benefit from playing alongside Mat and Adam and I firmly believe the supporters at Nantwich Town will see the best of him this season.”

Nantwich have also offered improved terms to former Crewe player Andy White, which Johnson hopes he will accept.

“This will then enable me to continue to build the team on top of a solid platform.

“I am still looking for a right full back to add to our defensive unit and I have one or two players considering offers to join us.

“It has always been my plan to have at least eight players secured before the end of May and so far we have Steve Jones, Mat Bailey, Mark Jones, Adam Jones, Harry Clayton, Peter Green, Terry Smith all confirmed and the club have taken up the option to re-sign Sam Wilson, Andy White and Max Harrop.

“I am very pleased at the progress made so far.. we are in a much better position than we were this time last year.”
