Golfers have been pitching in for a year – to help raise cash for a Nantwich school football team.

Crewe Golf Club Ladies have been fundraising at golf events, raffles and coffee mornings to help support several sports related community projects in the area.

And youngsters at Millfields Primary School, on Marsh Lane in Nantwich, were one of those to benefit.

Carole Ralphs, 2013 Ladies Club Captain at Crewe, and her fellow ladies members donated enough money for the Millfields football team to buy a new playing strip.

Andrea O’Neill, sports co-ordinator Millfields Primary School, said: “This was something we had dreamed of for our football team but it would have taken us some time to fund-raise the amount required.

“With this donation we were able to have the team all kitted out and looking smart in time for the last games of the season.

“The children were so excited and wore the new strip with absolute pride. We are extremely grateful.”

Carole, who’s children attended Millfields Primary School, said: “We strongly feel that sport activities are very important to children of all capabilities.

“Through the golf club we were able to give something back to the local community and assist in encouraging activity in young children.”

As well as Millfields Primary School, Crewe Golf Club Ladies donated to Haslington Primary Schools, Nantwich Cricket Club and the Camm Street Gymnastic disability team in Crewe.
