Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson praised his players despite crashing out of the FA Cup away at Salford City in a tight first qualifying round clash.

Two late second-half goals sealed it for the hosts in front of 369 fans and the Dabbers will look back on a host of missed chances.

Strikes from Gareth Seddon in the 76th minute opened the scoring for the club owned by Neville brothers Phil and Gary.

And as Nantwich pressed for a leveller, they were caught on the counter attack in the final minute as Daniel Webber smashed home the second.

Despite the defeat, Johnson (pictured) praised his players for their performance.

He said: “I am really disappointed to lose another football match.

“Forget that it is the FA Cup – we have lost again. But the lads have done ever so well for long periods.

“Gareth Seddon and Danny Webber – they are the two best forwards these lads will come across and there are no two better forwards in the league. They were the difference.

“Performance wise, I thought the lads had done okay but, when you have two players like that up front they are going to be a threat and they will be a handful.”

Nantwich have also been dealt another injury blow, with Adam Jones limping off.

The Dabbers now have 10 players carrying knocks or on the sideline.

“It’s another injury. Mark Jones has also twisted his knee and Shaun Dowling also has got a problem.

“I really don’t know what we have done to deserve what is going on.

“It’s a tough old road for us at the minute and we need a diversion to get out of this.”

Nantwich are in action again on Tuesday (September 16) as they visit Halesowen Town in the league, kick off 7.45pm.
