Audlem Firework Display went off with a bang as families flocked to the event from the surrounding areas, writes Kirsty Rollings.

Audlem Special Events Team estimate that more than 2,000 people attended the bonfire and award-winning Blitz Fireworks, to watch the choreographed display to popular music.

Fairground rides, stalls and food enticed people into Audlem Park as gates opened from 4.30pm, with the bonfire roaring and a Guy settled on top in true English spirit.

Since the group was established in 2001, they have raised more than £25,000 for local organisations.

Committee member Alan Duncan said: “It has been another great display and it’s wonderful for the area.

“These events mean that people travel to the village, and spend money in the local shops.

“When they leave, they often say that they like the village and want to live here.

“It’s a great selling point for the village, showing that it’s a vibrant place to live.”

Other events in the village include Party on the Park, Transport Festival and Music and Beer Festival.
