Campaigners are calling on Wistaston residents to voice their concerns about proposed housing north of Wistaston Green Road to the planning inspector before it’s too late.
Harlequin, property developers based in Liverpool, have appealed to the Planning Inspectorate to consider their application to build 150 houses on land off Wistaston Green Road, Wistaston.
Cheshire East Council’s Strategic Planning Board refused planning permission for the proposed development.
But campaigners say Harlequin lodged an appeal before the council could formally issue them with a written notice of the decision.
Hands Off Wistaston spokesperson Peter Wainwright said: “It seems clear that Harlequin are willing to twist and turn, using loopholes to try and force their way against the wishes of both local residents and Cheshire East Council.”
Residents have received letters from Cheshire East Council, informing them of Harlequin’s decision to appeal.
Any comments need to be received by December 25.
Now Hands Off Wistaston is urging people in the village to send in their views to the Inspector before Christmas Day.
Wistaston Cllr Margaret Simon, of Cheshire East Council, said: “The proposed development by Harlequin is another attack on the last bits of Green Gap land in Wistaston.
“Both local residents and Cheshire East Council have made it clear they want to keep this land free from unwanted development.
“Concerns have been raised about the impact on traffic at the Rising Sun junction onto Middlewich Road, which has been known as an accident black-spot.
“Wistaston residents need to let the Planning Inspector know their feelings on this proposal before it’s too late.”
Comments can be emailed to [email protected] or in writing to the Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN, quoting appeal reference APP/R0660/A/14/2228115.
