Harrison Lunt and Morrisons Nantwich, defibrillators for BL6 campaign

A Nantwich student campaigning for more life-saving defibrillators at his school, has been backed by local supermarket Morrisons.

Brine Leas pupil Harrison Lunt, who launched his “Defibs 4 BL6” fundraising campaign as part of a school project, is to stage a raffle.

The idea came after he received £220 worth of goods from Crewe-based car makers Bentley Motors.

Then the 17-year-old thought it would be great to sell raffle tickets – and give away a free Freddo Frog to boost sales.

So after writing to Morrisons deputy general manager Steve Lambert with the idea, the Nantwich store stepped in to help.

Mr Lambert passed the letter on to Morrisons community champion, Rachel Lewis, who arranged for Harrison to go into the Nantwich store and collect vouchers that were exchanged for 360 Freddo Frogs.

Harrison’s mum Berny, from Aston, near Nantwich, said: “Harrison hopes to start selling raffle tickets to Brine Leas students in the next few weeks!”

He has also been contacted by the Audlem Heartstart group who are arranging to hold an evening class in CPR and defibrillator training for staff and students.

Harrison came up with the “Defibs 4 BL6″ idea because his own family has a history of genetic heart disease.

The 1,200-pupil Brine Leas has one defibrillator, but Harrison is hoping to secure at least two more by the end of his project, including one to be based in the new BL6 Sixth Form building.
