Nantwich Town earned an away point at Colwyn Bay – but will be disappointed not to have taken all three, writes Richard Scott.

The Dabbers took the lead in the 71st minute after a fine move saw Steve Jones slotting home, only for Colwyn Bay to equalise in the 87th minute via Cory Williams.

Nantwich started brightly and Josh Hancock forced the first save from Colwyn keeper Russell Griffiths.

Colwyn Bay had their first shot on target soon after, with Robbie Booth forcing a good tip around the post from Terry Smith.

Chris Sharp just missed the post with a rasping drive for the hosts, but Nantwich Town began to find their passing style.

Josh Gordon being blocked by a Colwyn Bay defender, as Matty Kosylo started to trouble the defence with his jinking runs.

Gordon had another chance before half time, which ended in stalemate.

Nantwich came out all guns blazing after the break, and had attack after attack for the first 15 minutes.

Hancock and Jones came close to scoring, with the keeper producing good saves.

Soon after, Gordon hit the bar and over with a spectacular overhead kick.

Shotton replaced Gordon in the 65th minute in an effort to find the breakthrough first goal.

And it came on 71 minutes.

Kosylo broke free and fed Jones who was one on one with the keeper, who he beat comfortably.

Nantwich went in search of a second and had chances through Shotton and then sub Elliot Osbourne.

Colwyn Bay started to push forward, and on 87 minutes disaster struck for Nantwich.

The Seagulls equalised when Williams prodded home at the back post after the defence failed to clear a cross.

Goalscorer Jones said after: “That’s football unfortunately.”
