Residents in Nantwich are being warned to remain vigilant after a large number of distraction burglaries across South Cheshire.

Police say a number of distraction burglaries involving men attempting to sell artwork have so far been reported in the Middlewich, Holmes Chapel, Knutsford, and Cranage areas of the county.

It’s feared a gang could be travelling around South Cheshire targeting different towns.

Cheshire Police Investigating Officer Debbie Jerman said: “We are keen to speak to as many people as possible who have spoken to the men involved in these incidents to help enable identify the offenders.

“We would also ask that you check on other vulnerable relatives, neighbours or friends in your community to see if they have recently bought pictures or artwork of any description from door to door sellers.

“We would ask that anyone who has bought any artwork contacts us urgently and keeps the pictures to one side so we can evaluate if they are suitable for any forensic work.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incidents in relation to the incidents is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1018 of 28/09/2015.
