Cheshire author Phil Perry has unveiled his new book, The Battle of Baxter Bakery, at Nantwich Bookshop.

Phil’s debut book is a children’s novel set in a fictional bakery in the town of Mayfield, Derbyshire.

It follows the fortunes of the delicious cakes baked at the bakery, under the management of Mr Baxter and his mysterious business partner, Miss Veronica Sneeze-Bottom.

The cakes have suddenly been brought to life, thanks to a magical formula of alchemy.

However, a bitter rivalry exists between the cream cakes and the doughnuts who have a deep hatred of each other, and the tension between the two reaches boiling point after the squishing of Private Strawberry.

This inevitably leads to war within the bakery, and there can only be one winner.

Much of this book was written in Winsford Library, near where Phil lives.

“It has been 10 years in the making and the idea for the book actually originated from when I was in junior school, many, many years ago,” he said.

“The idea for the story stayed with me until I was finally able to put pen to paper and publish it this month, with the help of TeamAuthorUK, local indie author publishers.”

The launch of The Battle of Baxter Bakery took place on Saturday (December 17) at Nantwich Bookshop.

Phil was in the shop to read from the book, answer questions and sign copies.

The book is available to buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/2gwVPrN priced at £7.99.
