Mornflake vintage van

Iconic South Cheshire firm Mornflake is sending out its iconic vintage van to help spread the word about oats as part of a healthy diet.

The Crewe-based company’s replica Asquith van, dubbed Oatis, will travel to shows and events across the UK so visitors can try products made from Cheshire-milled oats.

The van has undergone a re-fit and rebrand at Whitby Morrison ice cream van manufacturers in Crewe.

Spokesman Ed Whitby said: “Oatis has become quite an icon and we’re always pleased to work with such a quirky van.

“We have a great relationship with Mornflake and are proud to use our skills and expertise to help them.”

The 50s-style vehicle is a familiar sight at local crowd-pulling events such as the Nantwich Show, Nantwich Food Festival and Royal Cheshire Show.

New spring and summer outings for Oatis include Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Car Fest North and the Goodwood Revival racing event.

Mornflake marketing manager Richard Jones said: “Oatis has become a familiar sight at local shows and this year ‘he’ will be going further afield promoting the versatility of oats.

“With new kitchen facilities, manned by a professional caterers, we can extend the range of snacks and offer information on products and recipes.”

Mornflake ambassadors will be introducing crowds to the company’s breakfast products at Blenheim Flower Festival, Keswick Mountain Festival and UK Triathlon competitions up and down the country.

For years, Mornflake has worked with HEART UK to raise awareness of making the right food choices.

The ‘Love Your Heart’ logo, as approved by the cholesterol charity, appears on the firm’s oat and oatbran products sold in supermarkets up and down the country.
