andy dudley, coach at Crewe & Nantwich RUFC

Former England U18s player Peter Allen has been appointed head coach by Crewe & Nantwich RUFC, replacing Andy Dudley.

Allen joins the Vagrants Park club from local rivals Sandbach, where he has been coaching the National 3 team for three seasons.

He replaces Dudley (pictured), who led the first team to their highest ever league status in his five-year stint at the club.

Crewe & Nantwich new director of rugby Martin Davies said Allen’s appointment is with immediate effect for the 2017/18 season.

Davies added: “Peter will be joining on an initial two-year deal with the option of a third year by mutual consent.

“Over the past three seasons, Peter has been coaching at Sandbach in National 3.

“He has also coached at Lymm and achieved promotion as a player coach at Stockport.

“Peter was once contracted to Sale Sharks and played for England U18s as well as Macclesfield 1st XV for 7 years.

“He will be joined by John Farr as his backs coach.

“John, a very talented scrum half, has played for Winnington Park and Bedford and represented Midlands at senior level.

“Further additions to the coaching team will be announced soon.

“As we move forward into a new era at Crewe and Nantwich, we have to thank outgoing coach Andy Dudley for his dedication over the past five years.

“Andy has achieved some notable successes with the senior squad during his tenure which included promotion to Level 6, the highest the club has ever achieved.

“As well as winners of the Cheshire Bowl 12/13 and finalists on several occasions.

“Andy also led the club to numerous 7s titles including this year’s cup winners at Sandbach.

“On behalf of the committee and the entire club I would like to thank Andy and wish him all the best for the future.”
