An historic pub in picturesque Marbury near Wrenbury has re-opened after a major restoration project.

The Swan has been restored and refurbished by Jeremy Brunning, the founder of Brunning & Price pub group but now a private operator.

The pub dates back as far back as the 1700s with outbuildings listed with National Heritage.

He decided to breath new life into the venue and turn it into an “iconic country pub”.

It now includes a sun terrace, a large Garden Room, traditional bar area with seating, real fires and wooden floors.

A new Cellar Room has been created for larger parties, while the bar area offers dining for customers who can bring their dogs.

The team has used reclaimed materials, wood panelling, beams and solid wooden and tiled floors in the restoration.

Jerry Brunning said: “We’ve spent a lot of time, money and effort to resurrect this gem of a pub and we’re delighted with the results.

“The pub is a country classic that’s now brimming with character and provides the local community a place where they’ll be guaranteed delicious food, quality beers and great wine.

“Whether you’re on a canal walk, meeting friends for a post-work drink or organising a family get-together, we believe The Swan is a pub for everyone.”

The pub also features antique furniture, colourful rugs, and a library filled with 2,000 books supplied by Barns Brooks of Norbury.

The new menu has locally sourced pub classic menu with more adventurous dishes, and stocks local ales with five hand-pulled beers on tap.

The Swan is now recruiting to expand its team of staff.

Marbury is a regular winner of the Best Kept Village Competition, and is in easy access to Malpas, Nantwich and Whitchurch.
