brawl - police incident close to Harrisons and Waterlode in Nantwich

A man has been arrested after a broad daylight street brawl in Nantwich town centre, police confirm.

The incident happened on Waterlode, close to the swimming baths and Harrisons bar near the junction with Welsh Row and High Street.

Police and paramedics were called to the disturbance at around 6.55pm last night (August 8).

At least one person was injured in the altercation and was taken for treatment for Leighton Hospital, a police spokesman said.

A 39-year-old man from Nantwich is currently under arrest and being questioned in connection the the incident.

It’s not clear at this stage how many people were involved or how it started.

Witnesses spoke of seeing large pools of blood on the pavement outside Harrisons and Regis on High Street (pictured) and a large police presence.

Nantwich Police said: “Police were made aware of reports of disorder around the swimming baths area of Nantwich at approximately 7pm on Wednesday 8th August, currently 1 male is in custody regarding this.”
