HGV - Road closure sign - Signage close to Colleys Lane-Middlewich Road junction

The busy A534 between Nantwich and Wrexham is closed for emergency resurfacing after an HGV overturned spilling diesel.

It happened between the A49 and A41 close to Bickerton Poacher pub.

It caused extensive damage to 300 metres of the highway, says Cheshire East Highways.

Repairs began at 7pm today (August 30) and are expected to be completed by 8am Friday.

The road is currently closed owing to the accident and will remain closed until the repairs have been carried out.

No road markings will be in place but these will be reinstated at a future date.

People travelling to the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival should prepare for signed diversions.
