Detectives probing the murder of Audlem dad Adam Lovatt have renewed their appeal for help – four months after the incident.

Officers are still keen to trace people who witnessed anything on the night of Adam’s death.

He was found on a street close to the centre of the village in the early hours on Friday May 25.

Four people were arrested in connection with his death in the days following the incident, included a 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was released on police bail.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released under investigation. A third man, 44, from Shrewsbury was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and released under investigation.

And a 58-year-old woman from Shrewsbury was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, she was also released under investigation.

Police were called out at 1am on May 25 to reports of an incident outside the Bridge Inn, on Shropshire Street, Audlem.

Adam, 45, was found with serious injuries and taken to the Royal Stoke hospital where he later died.

Nantwich Police said: “The investigation into the death of Adam Lovatt in Audlem is still ongoing and a man remains on police bail.

Adam’s wife Clare, two stepsons Jordan and Declan, parents Maria and Jeff and his brothers Mark and Darren and their families are still coming to terms with the incident.

At the time, Clare said: “I would like to thank everyone in Audlem for their overwhelming support since Adam passed away.

“We have been truly touched by everyone’s compassion and empathy which has been incredibly comforting while we try to deal with our immense loss.”

Adam and Clare moved to the village and reopened the Finefoodies Deli.

Adam also worked as a national account manager at Bookers Retail.

“He came into our lives and gave us eight years but this felt like so much more,” added Clare.

“He changed our lives for the better. He was our rock, our Man of Steel.

“He was an extremely loving father, son and brother as well as a fantastic husband.”
