cc smugglers + Tom Seals

Cheshire singer, songwriter and musician Tom Seals is among the headlining acts for this year’s Words & Music Festival with his band CC Smugglers.

Tom, from Shavington, who attended Ruskin High School in Crewe, made his name as a musician with The Tom Seals Band, where he supported the Bedfordshire band CC Smugglers and later joined them.

And the band, recently referred to as the “best live band on the scene” by Cerys Matthews, close this week’s Words & Music Festival 2018 in Nantwich.

Tom is looking forward to returning to Nantwich with CC Smugglers, having spent his teenage years performing to the local audience.

With the band, he has performed all over Europe at a series of festivals to audiences of 20,000 people.

Tom said: “I’m so grateful to the local following, many people from Crewe or Shavington will come up to me at gigs over the country and say that they’ve seen me perform in Crewe.

“I’m sure that local following will trust me enough to know that the music will be good with CC Smugglers.

“The show is incredible and the band is unique. I’m so looking forward to the show.”

Words and Music Festival director Nigel Stonier said: “The finale to this year’s festival with CC Smugglers is going to be amazing.

“This band have shared bills with likes of Bruce Springsteen and Old Crow Medicine Show and so we look forward to welcoming them to Nantwich for our final night of the festival.”

Words & Music Festival which launches tonight (October 8) is now in its 11th year, and offers a week of live original music across a number of venues in the market town of Nantwich.

Among the headlining acts this year is British Sea Power (sold out), Steve Hogarth of Marillion (sold out), Horse McDonald and Los Pacaminos featuring Paul Young, famous for their 80s hits including ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat’ and ‘Everytime You Go Away’.
