Health leaders in Cheshire want people to air their views on plans to merge four Clinical Commissioning Groups into one.

The proposals aim to improve the way CCGs work in buying health services available equally to people across the county, and to make the best use of money available to the local NHS.

The four Cheshire CCGs – South Cheshire, Eastern Cheshire, Vale Royal and West Cheshire – have worked closely for the last 18 months to create a Joint Commissioning Committee.

They say this has sped up decision-making on services provided in the same way across Cheshire.

A single executive team led by Clare Watson as Chief Officer has been appointed.

The proposed single Cheshire CCG would impact on more than 700,000 people with the aim of raising standards across all providers and by reducing variation in quality of care and access to services.

South Cheshire CCG currently covers a population of 173,000 in Crewe, Nantwich and all surrounding towns and villages.

Clare Watson said: “This is an exciting opportunity.

“A single Cheshire CCG would benefit local people by providing consistency and reducing duplication, both for ourselves as health service commissioners and for the hospitals, community and mental health service providers we buy from.

“The move to a single Cheshire CCG will happen hand in hand with the development of two Integrated Care Partnerships (ICPs) that will bring together NHS organisations with our Local Authorities to join up health and social care services around the needs of local people and their communities.”

Members of the public have until June 23 to air their views.

You find out more by visiting your local clinical commissioning group website and complete an online survey by June 23.
