appeal - man with serious injuries - police tape by jayneandd

Detectives are hunting a couple after a man was stabbed in the back as he walked down Nantwich Road in Crewe.

The 40-year-old victim had got into an argument with a man and woman in the street when he was then attacked and stabbed by the man, police said.

The incident happened at around 1am on Saturday (June 1) when the victim was walking along Nantwich Road, near to Royal Hotel.

He noticed a man and a woman were sat on the pavement with their feet in the road.

The victim approached the couple to warn them to be careful of vehicles driving past, but became involved in a verbal altercation with the pair.

He was subsequently stabbed in the back by the man, before running away in the direction of Mill Street.

The victim, from Crewe, was later taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital for treatment and was since been discharged later that day.

Detective Constable Kevin Lloyd: “Thankfully on this occasion the victim escaped with only minor injuries and he has since been discharged from hospital.

“However, the outcome could have been much worse and I would like to reassure residents that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are determined to catch the offenders and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation we are appealing for anyone who believes they may have relevant information or footage to get in touch.

“Perhaps you were in the Nantwich Road area and witnessed the incident or think you may have seen the offenders.

We also want to speak to anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the offenders or information regarding their identities.

“If you think that you can help our investigation in any way please come forward.”
