First-half - Joe Malkin on the ball under pressure from Leek Town (1)

Nantwich Town completed their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 home defeat to leek Town.

A deflected effort in the 76th minute for the visitors was enough to seal the win at Weaver Stadium yesterday (August 10).

Leek started the more lively and had the best chance of the first half, but the Dabbers started to play their way into the game which remained 0-0 at the break.

The action livened up in the second half, and Leek took the lead on 64 minutes when Jake Twyford broke the offside trap to fire past Hall in the Nantwich goal.

But that lead only last five minutes when Will Saxon levelled on 69 minutes.

Saxon poked the ball home after a fine run and cross to the near post by Joe Mwasile.

Both sides made plenty of changes as the game entered the final phase, before Twyford’s deflected effort wrong-footed Hall in the 76th minute for 1-2.

Both teams had chances late on but Leek held on to the win.

The Dabbers begin their BetVictor Northern Premier League campaign at home to Gainsborough next Saturday August 17, kick off 3pm.
