butters john bee nantwich road charity boxes stolen

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of three burglary offences in connection with the theft of charity collection boxes on Nantwich Road in Crewe.

One of the offences was at Butters John Bee Estate Agents, another was at Eric Bailey Butchers on October 27, and a third at Princess Takeaway on October 26.

The suspect, from Crewe, remains in police custody and is being questioned, say Cheshire Police.

Two charity boxes were stolen from Butters John Bee – one for The Royal British Legion and one for Magic Moments The Children’s Charity.

The boxes are believed to have contained approximately £80.

PC John Warren, of Crewe Police, is appealing for witnesses.

HE said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and I want to hear from anyone with any information which may help our investigation.

“Nantwich Road is a busy area, with lots of pubs and bars, and I believe there may have been a number of people in the area at the time of the incident who may be able to assist with our enquiries.

“The same goes for motorists who were driving in the area.

“If you believe you witnessed anything, or have dashcam footage of anything, that may be relevant to our investigation please contact the team here at Crewe Police Station.”
