A woman had to be rescued by fire crews after plunging down a steep bank at Bickerton near Nantwich.

Fire crews from Nantwich were called out at around 3.40pm yesterday (January 9) to Coppermine Lane, Bickerton, a popular spot for walkers.

Firefighters from the Rope Rescue Unit also attended along with a crew from Lymm.

The woman had fallen down a steep bank and injured herself.

Firefighters assisted North West Ambulance Service with rescuing the casualty.

She was rescued using a longboard and handed over to paramedics and taken to hospital for treatment.

Crews remained at scene for 40 minutes.

The extent of her injuries are not known.

    Hi , I am the lady involved , I have broken my leg in 3 places. I am in Chester hospital and have had surgery to repair my bones. The staff here and the attending rescuers were all excellent and I am truly grateful to them all .
