Second-half - third Nantwich Town winning goal - David Webb celebrates his goal (1) (1)

Nantwich Town scored a dramatic late winner to beat Bamber Bridge who had fought back from 2-0 down themselves.

The Dabbers were coasting at 2-0 at the Weaver Stadium against their mid-table opponents.

But the Lancashire side hit back after the break to level before David Webb’s last minute winner.

Nantwich suffered an early blow when Sean Cooke had to go off injured, replaced by former Stoke City star Ricardo Fuller.

But the hosts dominated the first period, with Joe Mwasile and Troy Bourne going close with efforts.

Nantwich pressure paid off on 40 minutes when a cross was dropped by the keeper under pressure from Fuller, leaving Webb to tap in from close range.

Three minutes later, Nantwich were 2-0 up when a real scramble in the box from a corner enabled Joel Stair to bundle the ball in.

The visitors hit back just four minutes after the restart, though.

The wind held up a Hall throw out and it fell to Daniel Wisdom, who lifted the ball back over the Nantwich keeper and into the net.

It gave Bamber Bridge the momentum and they began to pressure the Dabbers, with Daniel Dudley almost equalising on the hour.

Conditions worsened in a scrappy second period, but then Nantwich shot themselves in the foot in the 85th minute.

Poor defending from the hosts allowed Bridge far too much space and Richard Allen blasted in the leveller off the crossbar.

It seemed to be heading for a draw, with visitors still on top, but then the dramatic finish on 89 minutes.

Joe Mwasile went on a mazy run and then slid the ball through to Webb who squeezed the shot home.

It was enough for all three points and saw Nantwich move up to fifth place, into the play-off places on 44 point from 25 games, a point ahead of Cheshire rivals Warrington Town.
