festival - Museum - red door version April 2020 (1)

Nantwich Museum will reopen to the public on September 18 after a six-month closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It will be open on Saturday (September 19) and thereafter on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

It’s hoped it will return to full opening hours as soon as possible, Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am – 4.30pm.

There is still a chance to visit the temporary exhibition in the Millennium Gallery, “Personal Voices” by the Breakaway Textile Group, which will remain in place until the end of the year.

The re-opening priority is the protection of staff, volunteers and visitors from exposure to the Covid-19 virus as well as seeking the funding required to finance the extraordinary requirements.

Museum Manager Kate Dobson said: “I am extremely grateful to all those volunteers who have been only too keen to enable the museum to re-open as soon as possible despite what will inevitably be challenging conditions.”

She reassured visitors that everything would be done to make their visit as enjoyable as possible.

The Museum has thanked the support of Cheshire East Council and Nantwich Town Council as other income streams, the shop, education activities with schools, town tours and outreach activities have all been curtailed for several months.

It costs around £1,200-a-week to run the Pillory Street venue.

Visitors must book their visit by telephoning the Museum on 01270 627104 when they will also be advised of any specific requirements.
