Nantwich Town’s FA Cup third qualifying round will go ahead at Marine tomorrow (October 13) despite an outbreak of Covid among the squad.

The last two games for the Dabbers have been postponed, after four players tested positive for the virus.

It had also put the cup game on Merseyside at risk, but Marine released a statement to say it will go ahead.

They said: “Further discussions with Nantwich confirmed that four players tested positive for the virus.

“Following subsequent correspondence with Nantwich Town and the FA we confirm that tomorrow’s 3rd Qualifying Round tie will go ahead as scheduled.

“We have been assured by both Nantwich and the FA that all Covid-19 protocols have been met, including the exclusion of some players / staff who have not acquired the necessary 10 day isolation and others who came in to close contact with confirmed infected persons.

“We have however given our players individually the choice of playing in the match and confirm that any supporters who have purchased a ticket may request a refund via [email protected]

The game kicks off at 7.45pm sand the crowd has been limited to 400 as per Government guidelines for crowds at that tier of football.
