lockdown - Customer Mark Ray gives his order to Steve Lawson from Nantwich Bookshop and Coffee Lounge (1)

Cafés, pubs, and restaurants across Nantwich are preparing for “lockdown 2” with many now offering takeaway services from tomorrow (November 5), writes Jonathan White.

They plan to open in line with government guidelines for takeaway only during the new four-week lockdown due to end on December 3.

Venues like The Cheshire Cat and Street, Nantwich Bookshop, St Marthas, The Talbot, The Leopard, Deadwood Smokehouse among others will be hoping to trade throughout lockdown with takeaway and delivery.

Customers are advised to visit venue websites and social media pages for details.

They are asked to queue two metres apart with contactless payment the preferred method at most businesses.

Many Nantwich outlets also post information on the ‘Nantwich Foodies & Business’ Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/550956008859562/

Denise Lawson, of the Nantwich Bookshop and Coffee Lounge, said: “We will have our full range of beverages available.

“We will have breakfast baps toasties and regular sandwiches.

“We will also have a selection of our beautiful homemade cakes.

“There will be a ‘menu’ board outside displaying what is available daily.

“Our trading hours initially will be 9am to 3pm. Once again I would like to thank Nantwich for their fantastic support throughout this year.”

Liz Parkin, community engagement consultant from inNantwich, said: “Once again the flexible and resilient restaurateurs and cafe owners of Nantwich have navigated their way through the next phase of restrictions and returned to doing takeaways.

“I would urge anyone who can afford the odd treat over the coming month to support our independent food outlets.”
