gamer Marley with Iwan Thomas - Team GB fanzone

A young Nantwich gamer enjoyed a day to remember when she gave GB Olympic athlete Iwan Thomas a run for his money!

Marley Sharp, eight, was one of number of youngsters challenged by the UK 400m record holder to compete playing the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 video game.

They competed at the launch of the game at the official TeamGB fanzone in Westfield, London.

And the budding young journalist, a pupil at Pear Tree Primary School, also had chance to interview Thomas about being an athlete.

It’s not the first time Marley has hit the headlines! Last year she was praised nationally for a moving poem she penned during the first pandemic lockdown.

Now other youngsters are being given a chance to enjoy a similar experience at the TeamGB fanzone.
