Shaun Miller signs for Nantwich Town

Nantwich Town have signed experienced Football League striker and former Crewe Alexandra star Shaun Miller.

The Crewe academy product has amassed more than 450 football league appearances, scoring 102 goals in his 15-year career.

Miller joins from Bolton Wanderers where he made 20 appearances in the club’s successful promotion winning campaign.

He began his career at Crewe in 2006 where he went on to make 163 appearances in a spell that lasted six years.

In 2012 he made the move to Yorkshire to sign for Sheffield United on an initial two-year deal.

Miller only made 28 appearances for The Blades but he famously scored twice in 90th minute to help his side come from behind against Port Vale in the FA Cup.

Later in the competition he scored an 120th-minute winner at Craven Cottage to help the Yorkshire club progress into the fourth round.

Miller also had spells at Coventry City, Morecambe and Carlisle United before returning to The Alexandra Stadium in 2018 on a loan deal from Carlisle, where he grabbed six goals in 15 appearances.

He bagged a two-year deal at the Alexandra Stadium, before leaving to go to Bolton where he has recently helped them gain promotion into League One.

Dabbers manager Dave Cooke said: “We actually spoke to Shaun last season, but he was offered a football league contract which he took, so it’s nice to finally get him signed.

“We’re delighted that he’s joined. He brings a wealth of experience to the side which is invaluable at this level.

“He’s scored a lot of goals in the football league and he’s a local lad which will certainly mean that the fans will get behind in on match-days. We’re very pleased to be able get Shaun on board in time for the new season.”

Miller becomes The Dabbers second signing of the summer after they signed goalkeeper Cameron Terry on Wednesday.

Miller could be in action tomorrow (August 7) as Nantwich host Chester at 1pm.

Their new league season kicks off on Saturday August 14 when Stalybridge Celtic visit the Optimum Pay Stadium.
