Nantwich Town Ladies played their last pre-season game in preparation for the new season with a friendly game victory over Runcorn Sports Women FC.

Due to a waterlogged pitch at Runcorn’s ground, the game was switched to the Applewood Independent 3G Arena astroturf pitch at Nantwich Town Football Club.

Nantwich Town Ladies were comfortable 4-0 winners with goals from Kirsty Fisher-Sherratt (x2), Marni Williams and Emily Fallon. Player of the match Emily Fallon.

The team now has a week off before the start of the 2021/22 season in the Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League, Premier on Sunday September 5 away at Sandbach United.

Chris Broad, Manager, Nantwich Town Ladies FC first team, said: “I was very happy that we settled early and were able to impose ourselves on the game in the first half, coming in 4-0 at half time.

“We challenged the players to work on how they retain the ball and build attacks by playing around and through the opposition, rather than as direct, to preserve energy and work the opposition.

“Although we didn’t add to the score, mainly due to a fantastic second half from the Runcorn goalkeeper, the girls did exactly what we asked of them, and we looked fantastic in possession.

“We’ll look to build on it as we train hard in anticipation of Sandbach United away on 5th September.”
