pub roof fall The Leopard Nantwich

A man has been seriously injured after falling from the roof of a pub in Nantwich, police confirmed.

The incident happened at The Leopard pub on London Road in Nantwich at around 6pm last night (September 1).

Police and fire crews attended the scene and attempted to negotiate him down to safety.

But he fell from the roof a short time later and is now in a serious condition in North Staffordshire Hospital.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “At 5.06pm on Wednesday 1st September police were called to reports of concern for a man who was on the roof of a building on London Road in Nantwich.

“Officers attended to the scene and began engaging in conversation with him.

“A short time later he fell from the roof and was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital by ambulance where he is currently in a serious condition.”

Pub bosses at The Leopard said the man had called in to buy a drink as a customer, but had somehow climbed on to the top of the outdoor smoking shelter.

“He seemed distressed so staff phoned the police and they soon arrived alongside the fire service and ambulance.”
