Nantwich Town FC Reserves beat AFC Crewe 17-1 in the First Round of the Crewe & District FA Challenge Cup, writes Jonathan White.

The Dabbers reserves are managed by military veteran Colin Carruthers, who served for 20 years in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.

And his team were ruthless in putting their opposition to the sword at the Applewood Arena, Optimum Pay Stadium in Nantwich.

Since leaving the military Colin has undergone his coaching badges and is a UEFA B outfield coach.

He is currently undertaking his UEFA B goalkeeper qualification. Colin Is a Wigan Athletic football fan.

His assistant Chris Dawson is an ex professional footballer with Bolton Wanderers whom he played for six years, before moving on to Kuala Lumpur FC in Malaysia for two years.

Nantwich Town Reserves are looking to recruit players to add to their current squad.

They play in the Cheshire League Division with games taking place on a Saturday at 2pm.

Training is on Wednesday nights (8-10pm) at The Applewood Arena, next to Optimum Pay Stadium.

The coaches are all UEFA qualified, so sessions are insightful and entertaining.
