Reaseheath Audience and cast - Mokushla Theatre

A theatre company set up by a Nantwich mum in memory of her tragic son has helped to raise vital funds with two performances.

Mokushla Theatre Company staged a double-header performance of “Room 13” and “The Hartley Wedding” at two venues – Reaseheath Hall and Alsager Civic.

Cat Hunter set up the amateur performing group to honour her son Luke, who was killed in a road accident in July last year.

And the two performances have helped to raise £236 which will be donated to The Team Lewis Trust.

More than 100 people attended the two shows and were gripped by the murder mystery, trying to work out “whodunit” while they laughed at the comic elements that lightened the mood.

Cat said: “The cast and crew of Mokushla Theatre Company want to thank everyone who supported the two events and helped to entertain the audiences while raising money for this great charity.”

Mokushla Theatre Company performed Luke’s favourite play “Room 13” and the prequel “The Hartley Wedding”, both written and directed by his mum Cat.

The name “Mokushla” is Gaelic for “my pulse”, “my heartbeat”, and “my love”, reflecting the passion the company has for keeping Luke’s memory alive through the power of theatre.

Team Lewis Trust is a local children’s charity fundraising for research into treatments for T-ALL, linked to leukaemia, to better understand it, develop new treatments and, ultimately, raise cure-rates.

It was set up in memory of Lewis Crossley who, in his short life, inspired thousands of well-wishers during his leukaemia treatment.
