Staff at the Age UK shop in Nantwich are calling on the local community to sign up as a volunteer to help raise much-needed funds for the charity’s work with older people.
The appeal comes as part of Volunteer’s Week (June 2-8) which celebrates people who give up their time to volunteer and inspires others to get involved to make a difference.
There are various benefits to volunteering for Age UK, as well as helping support older people and making a difference to the local community.
Volunteers can make new friends, discover new interests and develop new skills, and it has physical benefits helping people stay active.
Age UK’s new campaign “Act Now, Age Better” is encouraging people to take small steps to be more active and and lead a happier, heathier, more independent later life.
Shop volunteers in Nantwich will help on the shop floor, including serving customers, creating displays, managing stock donations and assisting with shop administration.
Kathryn, shop manager at the Age UK shop in Nantwich, said: “We’re urgently looking for new people to join our team of volunteers.
“The Age UK shop in Nantwich offers flexible hours, providing volunteers with shorter volunteering time slots in order to fit around busy lives.
“So if you think you could help, please get in touch – even small amounts of time can make a big difference!”
Money raised from the charity’s shop goes towards Age UK’s vital services, including its Telephone Friendship Service, free and confidential Advice Line and The Silver Line Helpline.
The Age UK Nantwich shop is also asking people to donate any unwanted, quality, spring and summer clothing.
