
Seahorse Swimming Club in South Cheshire scooped 10 medals at a swimming gala held at Sale Leisure Centre, writes Jonathan White
The club faced off against swimmers from the Wirral and Manchester and it brought together more than 30 swimmers with a range of disabilities.
They competed as part of preparations for the Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy Galas later this year.
Taking part alongside Seahorse were teams from Sailfin SC (Sale) and Aquadis SC (Ellesmere Port).
Gareth Roberts, Secretary of Seahorse SC, said: “The Seahorse swimmers were looking forward to this first gala of 2025 and they have trained hard in recent months to get themselves ready.
“The swimmers gave a superb account of themselves at the gala and they came away with 10 medals.”

•Eva Yoxall – Gold, Girls 25m
•Annabelle Marriott – Gold, Girls 50m
•Heidi Tomkinson – Gold, Girls 100m
•Erin Yoxall – Gold, Ladies 25m & Silver, Ladies 50m
•Zac Beeston – Silver, Men’s 25m
•Neil Jones – Silver, Men’s 50m
•Carson Bruce – Silver, Men’s 100m
•Josh Brough, Ethan Carroll, Alex Moores, David Troop – Bronze, Senior Relay
•Oliver Daly, Jonathan Harrison, Matthew Roberts – Silver, League Relay.
Founded in 1956, Seahorse SC meets every Thursday evening from 6.30–7.30pm at the Crewe Lifestyle Centre.
The club is committed to helping people with disabilities build water confidence, learn to swim, and improve their skills in a supportive environment.
Run by volunteers, Seahorse welcomes swimmers of all abilities.
The club is on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers of all ages.
