
Police want witnesses to a three-vehicle smash on the A51 near Nantwich which left three people in hospital, one with serious injuries.
The incident happened on the busy Chester Road at Hurleston, close to the turn-off for Snugburys just after 2pm yesterday (July 9).
It involved a private ambulance Renault Master van and two cars – a Jaguar F Pace and a Peugeot 308.
The Jaguar and Peugeot were travelling towards Tarporley while the ambulance was travelling in the opposite direction towards Nantwich when the collision happened.
Police say the driver of the Peugeot sustained serious injuries, two other casualties were taken to hospital, their injuries are not believed to be serious.
Cheshire Fire say two fire engines from Crewe and Nantwich, and the Rapid Response Rescue Unit from Nantwich attended and one person required “rapid extrication” by firefighters and was treated on scene by air ambulance staff.
A second casualty self-extricated after firefighters removed the vehicle door.
Three other people received first aid from firefighters and paramedics on scene.
One casualty was airlifted to hospital.
The road was closed for several hours yesterday evening.
