Dear Editor
I’d like to take a moment to share a recent experience that left me feeling incredibly grateful and reminded me of the quiet dedication our local police officers show every day.
Last week, I found myself in a bit of a predicament when my car suddenly broke down at the Cheerbrook roundabout in Willaston.
It was a busy time of day, and my vehicle had come to a complete halt, posing not just an inconvenience but a potential danger to both myself and other road users.
A police officer arrived and immediately stepped in to help. Without hesitation, he assisted me in pushing my car safely onto the traffic island, out of the way of moving traffic.
It may have seemed like a small gesture to some, but in that moment, it meant everything to me. His quick-thinking, calm demeanour, and willingness to help made all the difference.
Too often, we hear about the challenges and criticisms faced by police officers, but not enough about the countless acts of support and kindness they extend to the public each day.
This was just one example of the kind of work they do so often without recognition.
Thanks to the officer’s help, I was able to stay safe and arrange for my car to be taken to a local garage for repairs.
The situation could have been much more stressful or dangerous had it not been for his prompt assistance and professionalism.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you not only to the officer, but to all members of our police force.
Your dedication, vigilance, and community spirit are deeply appreciated, even if not always openly acknowledged.
Your presence on the roads and in our neighbourhoods brings reassurance to so many, and moments like this highlight just how valuable your support is.
Thank you once again for all that you do – quietly, consistently, and with such care.
Regards
Jonathan White
