traCE reporting online tool

Cheshire East Council has launched a new online tool which it claims will make reporting potholes and other local issues easier.

traCE, officially launched yesterday (July 23), will replace the council’s current third-party solution “Fix My Street”.

traCE is a map-based platform that should allow residents to quickly report issues such as potholes, fallen trees, abandoned vehicles and fly-tipping within Cheshire East.

The tool can be used to receive updates on reported issues and subscribe to reports raised by others, which aims to reduce duplicate reports.

The new tool is part of the council’s wider transformation programme.

Cllr Nick Mannion, leader of Cheshire East Council and chair of the corporate policy committee, said: “We understand that people in Cheshire East need quick and easy access to council services, and traCE makes it simpler to self-serve and keep us informed – helping us to prioritise resources where they’re needed most.”

Cllr Mark Goldsmith, chair of the council’s highways and transport committee, added: “Our teams work around the clock to maintain Cheshire East’s roads, pavements and public areas.

“We are therefore grateful to everyone who takes the time to report issues as this helps us rectify them in the quickest way possible.

“We know the borough’s highways are not perfect – and despite significant investment this year, we still don’t have enough money to do everything needed.

“That’s why it’s so important we continue to find smarter, more efficient ways of working, so we can put as much money as possible into road and pavement improvements.

“traCE makes it easy for everyone to report issues and track progress – even if someone else has already reported the issue.”

Cllr Mannion added: “Open highways enquiries from Fix My Street will be automatically transferred to traCE at launch, so there’s no need to report those issues again.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has reported issues in the past and encourage them to continue doing so using traCE.”

More information and a link to access traCE will be available at www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/traCE once the system is live and ready for use.

To report any issues that present an immediate danger, call 0300 123 5020 or 0300 123 5025 out of hours.

  1. Well, let’s hope that this new system DOES actually get the jobs done which you have reported, as clearly FIX My Street.

The amount of times I have reported blocked storm drains on the A51 (Barbridge to Green Lane roundabout) with Kew garden vegetation growing out of them, with photographic evidence, only to be informed by email stating there is no issue or matter is closed as they have been cleared, when blatantly they haven’t.

    APPALLING.

Just another system, where nothing is done……but Council say they have systems in place, so it must be working.
