Nantwich CC’s 1st team have another crucial Cheshire County League match this Saturday (August 2) as title rivals Hyde come to Whitehouse Lane.

The two clubs battled it out for last season’s Premier League with the Dabbers pipping the long-time leaders on the final day of the season.

That should add extra spice to a showdown between the second and third placed teams in this year’s competition.

It’s a midday start and a match that should see plenty of runs if last Saturday’s game at Whitehouse Lane is anything to go by.

Having won the toss and decided to bat first against Neston, Nantwich amassed 332-6 before declaring at the end of the 47th over.

Yash Pednekar made 35, Jake Pearson a rapid 51 and there was another sparkling contribution from Ali Chughtai whose 97 came from 74 balls.

But the centrepiece of the innings was an unbeaten 105 from Rob Jones (pictured), his third century in seven innings for Nantwich this summer.

Freddy Woodfine (2-34) and Jason Foulkes (2-67) made good early inroads into the Neston reply but it was tough going for the bowlers on a great batting pitch.

But Scott Wardley’s introduction into the attack proved to be a match-winning move, the right-arm spinner taking 5-31 from 9.1 overs as the Dabbers wrapped up a 102-run victory.

At Neston, there was an equally emphatic win for Nantwich 2nds, who decided to field after winning the toss.

Sam Williams was the pick of the Dabbers attack, taking 4-48, as the home side were bowled out for 178.

That target proved to be no problem for Nantwich with Jakob Jordan (110) and Ben Wright (57no) putting on 176 in their opening stand, setting up a nine-wicket win.

And the 3rds made it a clean sweep when they beat Wood Lane CC by three wickets, Robert Howell top-scoring with 64 as Nantwich got home with three wickets added an over to spare after restricting the visitors to 179-7 from their 40 overs.

To complete a great weekend, the Sunday 3rds won at Ashley CC, Neil Forster top-scoring with 35 as the visitors posted 185-6 from their 40 overs.

Ashley were then restricted to 174-8, Alex Darlington and Freddie Sant taking three wickets apiece.
