Crewe CC 3 - Rory Kalnins

Crewe CC 1st and 2nd teams earned vital wins in their bids for promotion.

Having lost the toss, the 1sts away to Meir Heath, took the field.

The home team’s M Raja (43) and L Evans (21) were the mainstays in a respectable 55 for 3.

The introduction of in-form Faisil Mahmood (5-16) dramatically swung the game in Crewe’s favour.

Wickets fell regularly as Ollie Jarvis (1-15), Sam Youds (1-8) and Piers Stockton (3-32), supported Faisil to dismiss their opponents for a gettable 106 all out.

The Crewe innings then mirroring that of Meir Heath fell from 54 for 3 to 78 for 6, with only Ollie Jarvis (14) and Lew Bacon (31) showing any form.

The crawl to the 107 target was achieved with required grafting from Ben Jarvis (15NO) and Nathan Twidell (5 Not Out) – not big scores but hugely important.

The 2nds at home to Little Stoke won the toss and elected to field.

Their usual bowling consistency restricted the visitors to 53 for 3 with Pash Mulbeen (3-31) and Haveesh Alluri (3-15) taking the early honours.

Frazier Hoye then continued with his left arm enigma to return 3 for 14 and dismiss Little Stoke for 88 and a strong winning opportunity.

In reply captain Max Gay (38 Not Out) carried his bat to victory with many overs to spare.

Ample support was received first from Hamish Howard (10) and particularly Mark Hurst (23) unluckily receiving the only grubber of the game.

Bharath came in to finish off with a flourishing 10 not out.

This weekend the 1sts are at home to Wedgwood CC and the 2nds are away to Onneley.
