Nantwich Town Women’s flying start to life in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South continued with a 6–0 victory away at AFC Crewe, writes Jonathan White.
It was the Dabbers’ third win in as many games and their first away fixture at this level, following Wednesday’s home triumph over the same opponents.
The visitors raced into a 4–0 lead by half-time, showcasing both attacking flair and defensive solidity.
Katie Greenwood bagged a hat-trick and other scorers were Josie Alderman, Amanda Fallon and Bridie Harding.
Greenwood’s treble underpinned another dominant performance and earned her the first-ever GOAT Player of the Match award, which included a £50 voucher from GOAT – Nantwich’s brand-new sports bar and restaurant on High Street.
First Team Manager Dan Mellor said: “It was another strong performance from the girls.
“To score six and keep a clean sheet against a tough rival shows the quality and confidence we’re playing with right now.
“I’m proud of how the players applied themselves, especially so soon after a big result against the same opposition earlier in the week.
“That said, it’s only three games into a long season.
“We know there will be tougher challenges ahead, and our focus has to stay on improving every week, keeping our standards high and working hard together.
“If we do that, the results will take care of themselves.”
