Dee Slinn - brave the shave_censored

A Wistaston woman is preparing to chop off her long locks and raise vital funds for a cancer charity.

Dee Slinn (pictured) is being supported by her employer Kaplan Financial to “brave the shave” in September.

She is raising funds for Cancer Research UK and is also donating her long curls to the Little Princess charity for a wig to be made.

The shave will take place at Nantwich Bookshop from 10.30am on September 6th.

Mother-of-one Dee, aged 53, moved to the area in 2001 and is originally from Hampshire.

She said: “Originally I was going to be doing this outside the Cancer Research charity shop in Nantwich, however this is still under renovations.

“So Steve at the Bookshop has very kindly offered a corner of their seating area for the event to take place!

“I am a bit of an adrenaline junky, and love a challenge! I am a very much get up and go person.”

De worked at South Cheshire College and Reaseheath College, before joining Kaplan. She has also served on the committee for the local WI, Wistaston Swans, and has volunteered at the Nantwich Show.

Over the years, she has completed various challenges including cycling, running, and walking, which have pushed her physically.

But she was looking for something different to do – and is now preparing to wave goodbye to her fabulous locks!

She added: “This isn’t just a personal challenge; it’s a deeply meaningful act of support for a cause close to my heart.

“Cancer has impacted many of my friends and family, and this event is a way of making a tangible difference.”

Dee hopes to raise £1,000 for Cancer Research from the event.

Nikki Cook, of Kaplan Financial, said: “This is a massive contribution by Dee!

“In addition to the funding raising for our chosen charity, Dee will also be donating her hair and has arranged this personally so two very deserving charities will be benefiting from those curly locks!”
