Barony Park in Nantwich came alive with community spirit, courage, and reflection as Dabbers Dash returned this month, writes Jonathan White.
The event aimed to raise awareness for SheServed – a new support and social group for female veterans.
The monthly run, walk, and wheel also featured a minute’s silence to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day.
Zoë Robson, a British Army veteran, mother, and the inspirational founder of SheServed, gave an emotional speech sharing her own journey.
She spent 12 years in the Royal Military Police, including time patrolling Germany and serving in Iraq, followed by the hidden challenges of returning to civilian life.
She said: “At 19 years old, I was patrolling the streets of Germany with a pistol on my hip.
“By 21, I was serving in Iraq.
“After 10 years of civilian life, my mental health took a dive, and I went looking for local veteran support groups. But I couldn’t find a space where I felt comfortable.
“Many were male-dominated, or made up of wives and daughters of veterans rather than veterans themselves. That’s when SheServed was born.”

SheServed offers women who have served a chance to connect, share experiences, and rebuild identity and confidence in civilian life.
Zoe added: “My experience in the Army was no different from my male colleagues—but after leaving, I often felt invisible.
“SheServed is working to change that. It’s the space I needed—a community of women who understand what it’s like to live life after service.”
Dabbers Dash event lead Paul McIntyre said: “Zoe was inspiring in how she explained why she set up SheServed and the challenges she faced after military service. That is brave, and I hope it inspires others.”
Dabbers Dash participants set off around the Barony at their own pace, cheered on by volunteers and captured in photos by supporters including Digital Creator Richy Thrower, North West Pokemon Go Ambassador Chaz Bowder, and local runner Joanne Pilato.
The next Dabbers Dash will take place on Saturday September 20th at 9am in Barony Park, with the Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group as the featured cause.
The event is free and open to all—whether you run, walk, or wheel.
It begins at the John Deere dealership end of Barony Park and finishes on Sandford Road, with participants encouraged to complete 1-3½ laps at their own pace.
