Barony Park in Nantwich came alive with community spirit, courage, and reflection as Dabbers Dash returned this month.
The event aimed to raise awareness for SheServed – a new support and social group for female veterans.
Nantwich paid tribute to the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day) with a moving ceremony held beside the War Memorial on the Town Square, writes Jonathan White.
VJ Day marks Japan’s surrender in 1945, bringing the Second World War to an end.
Nantwich Museum is planning an exhibition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of both VE Day on May 8 and VJ Day on August 15.
And they have appealed for members of the public to help them!
A 99-year-old veteran who served in Burma and now lives in South Cheshire, is to take part in the national VJ (Victory over Japan) Day 70th anniversary commemorations in London.
Former army captain Bert Molsom, a resident at Morris Care’s Corbrook Park Nursing Home in Audlem, will attend the event with his son, also Bert, this Saturday August 15.
