Two Cheshire musical groups have teamed up to stage a charity concert at St Mary’s Church in Nantwich later this year.
The concert will feature Lions Youth Brass and Phoenix Voices and take place on December 13.
It is aimed at promoting and recruiting for the two organisations involved.
There will also be a raffle run by the bands and refreshments available.
The first half of the show will by Lions Youth Brass followed by a Phoenix set.
The second half will be under candlelight with a Christmas set by Lions followed by three joint pieces between choir and band including a new arrangement of the Polar Express written by Craig Shaw.
Lions Youth Brass are based in Sandbach and were formed in 1989 by a group of parents as a small community-based youth brass band for their children to play together.
Donations were secured from local Lions clubs, a relationship which has now spanned more than 35 years.
The band supports around 100 young musicians across three groups – a ‘Debut Band’ for beginners, the ‘Academy Band’ for those with more experience, and ‘Youth Band’ for the most able players.
All three bands perform regularly around Cheshire, supporting local Lions Clubs and associated charities and each year the Youth Band holds a concert tour.
Ian Raisbeck was appointed musical director of Lions Youth Brass in January 2023, following the death of Nigel Birch.
Ian is a former member of Lions and has continued to work with the organisation for more than 20 years in many different roles.
Phoenix Voices is a mixed-voice choir of between 30 and 40 members.
They cover all voice ranges and perform a range of popular music including songs from movies and musicals.
Phoenix Voices rehearse weekly in Knutsford under the direction of Claire Henry.
