Crewe Vagrants CC first team slipped to a shock defeat at Wedgewood but remain on track for the title.
In a low-scoring rain-affected game, Crewe opening bowler and captain Cal Bacon (4-22) had an early success dismissing Wedgewood’s opening batter for a duck.
Despite a top scoring 23 from Ugandan international K Waisna, the visitors never fully recovered.
Losing wickets regularly, they slumped from 53 for 4 to 94 all out and a target the Crewe team would expect to reach with ease.
A Tynczuk(2-19) ably supported by K Waisna (2-20) and a wet skidding wicket saw the dismissal of normally dependable Rory Kalnins without scoring and made scoring difficult for subsequent batters.
Only Lewis Bacon and Sam Youds managed double figures (both 14 runs) as wickets fell regularly in the wet conditions.
With five out by LBW and all out in 19 overs tells its own story in a disappointing defeat.
Crewe 2nds were more successful at Onneley.
Having been inserted, evergreens Chris Gillard (11) and Mike Whittingham (31) gave Crewe a good foundation for a big score.
And so it was as a fine 58 not out from Ravi Varma with good assistance from Frazier Hoye (13), Johnathan Bourne (17) and Kush Parma (17) enabled Crewe to post an impressive 193 for 7.
In reply, Onneley lost two early wickets to Andy Whittingham but recovered well thanks to steady knocks from Muhammed Halem (31), Vipin Joseph (27) and Geoff Hall (23).
At 80 for 2, the game changed dramatically when Frazier Hoye (4-18) joined Johnathan Bourne (3-21) in the attack, removing all but one of the remaining batters.
Mike Whittingham finished off the match with the home team on 114, and 79 runs short.
Next week, both teams are reasonably local with the 1sts at Norton-in-Hales and the 2nds at home to Betley.
