Nantwich Town Men’s Sunday Team are to a flying start after beating Crewe Rovers FC 7-0.
Now the team is looking for new players to join the squad for the 2025/26 Crewe Regional Sunday Football League campaign.
Nantwich’s Sunday Team will be playing in Division One with home pages at Applewood Arena 3G pitch on Waterlode.
Mark Chandler led the way with four goals against Crewe – despite missing a penalty – while fellow club legend Danny Griggs bagged a hat-trick.
The side mixed the experience of six ex-Nantwich Town FC first team players – all now over 40 – with the energy of younger teammates.
The team is managed by Chandler, who re-formed the side last season after returning to football following a 15-year break.

Mark said: “I’m now 44 and played for Nantwich Town’s first team in the late 90s and early 2000s alongside Danny Griggs, Chris Morris, Lyndon Hall, John Scarlett, Stuart Heaps and many more.
“Back then we were up against the likes of Fleetwood Town, St Helens and Atherton in the North West Counties League.
“I wanted to experience competitive football again before it was too late – and when I spoke with a few of the old lads, they were just as keen! What began as one ‘Last Dance’ for the ex-players has turned into something much bigger.
“The club has been fantastic in backing us, and there’s a real family feel now – players bring along their families and friends, and the Sunday morning atmosphere is brilliant.
“We’re proving that whatever your age, you can still play competitive football, enjoy it, and be part of something special.”
The Dabbers are keen to keep growing and are welcoming new players to join the squad.
Training takes place every Thursday evening, 7–8pm, on the Applewood Arena 3G pitch.
