winners cake and town window comp winners

The Nantwich Food Festival 2025 competition winners have been unveiled.

Festival visitors and local businesses took part in two competitions during the festival, including the “Nantwich Bake-Off” and the “Best Shop Window Display”.

Karen Young organised the Nantwich Bake-off, sponsored by Cheerbrook Farm Shop, and this year’s contest was to bake a Jamaican Ginger Cake.

The winner was Victoria Owen, from Sandbach, who won a deluxe hamper and afternoon tea for two.

Runner up was Mitch Clarke, from Nantwich, and in third was young baker Erin Rowe, also of Nantwich.

Bake-off judges were baking experts Sam Copeland, from Reaseheath College, home economist and food stylist Jill Weatherburn, and Deborah Hitchen of Cheerbrook.

The final counting of the many votes for the Best Shop Window Display competition is also complete.

This is a keenly fought competition each year with many Nantwich businesses going the extra mile to ensure their window is in with a chance of a rosette.

The three winners were Brookshaws on Hospital Street, Running Bear on Oat Market, and Wright Lettings on Pepper Street.

Food Festival Town Liaison Manager Jackie Stringer said: “I thank all the work that businesses did made the town look so lovely in the run-up to the festival and also provided a great family activity for the school holiday period in checking out our windows around town.”

“There were many more than usual entries, so this is clearly popular with local residents as well as town businesses.

“Six people who voted in this competition have been selected at random and will each win a £25 voucher for one of our food retailers in town.

“These vouchers were donated by A.T.Welch, Nantwich Bookshop Coffee Shop, Cherry-on-top, Nantwich Cheese Shop, Bear & Boost and Brookshaws and we thank them for this.”

The next festival event of the year is the presentation of the Nantwich Food Awards on October 10th.
