A heartfelt roadside shrine has emerged in Willaston where a popular young motorcyclist died in an accident last week.

Josh Stockton, 22, died after his motorbike collided with another vehicle on the A534 Crewe Road.

Scores of tributes have been laid around a tree and hanging from branches close to where the accident happened last Wednesday September 3rd.

Items left include a motorcycle helmet, wing mirror, riding jersey and flowers bearing heartfelt messages from family and friends.

There are also flowers, cards, photographs and mementos around the Maple tree on Crewe Road.

Josh was known for his love of motorbikes and skateboarding, and had been preparing to start a new job as a chef at the GOAT sports bar in Nantwich.

The shrine has quickly grown as family, friends and members of the community have gathered to remember Josh on almost every evening since the crash.

Dozens of floral tributes now encircle the base of the tree, alongside photographs, messages and personal keepsakes.

One moving message reads: “(Josh Stockton) STOCKO. Josh was the best brother, I yay and ollie could have asked for, and seeing the impact he had on other’s lives, anyone could see he was also the best friend, boyfriend, son, nephew, grandchild, and person to meet in general, he was witty, funny, so kind and comforting. He never judged a soul and would make anyone, no matter how depressed, laugh. You will forever be in our hearts stocko. We all love you xx. Cool stuff he liked: Motorbikes (obviously), scooters, skateboards, mountain biking, music (all kinds), engineering, gaming, his girlfriend, airsoft, his friends + family, anything with wheels, travelling, cigarettes (serial smoker), zipties and e-tape (as you can see). You will be missed.”

Another tribute says: “You only live once and boy did you live!! Always fiercely, unapologetically you! Forever 22, but you’ll always be Squash to me. Love you forever, kiddo! Mango x.”

The Peacock Pub in Willaston will be staging a special “Biker Night” this Wednesday September 10 from 6pm.

Cheshire Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision and have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101 or via their website, quoting IML 2169052.
